WOW. What a beautiful performance of this classic piece. Love the original and love this new version. Danny Carey is doing an absolutely sterling job in this band and I'm really impressed with his timing and use of a drum kit that's practically an exact replica of the great Bill Brufords kit. Tony Levin is effortlessly playing that stick because Tony has been with King Crimson constantly and now Beat and it's an instant fit, Adrian is getting amazing sounds from his guitar and keeping the overall theme for the most part which is the glue that holds it altogether and Steve Vai is really giving something extra special by the way he's fitting with the main theme of the original album version while adding striking improvisation and enhancing musical ideas to this classic, it's really uplifting and illuminating this great music. I'm finding his effortless solo additions to be a nice push outside of the cruise style nature of this piece, which really gives some nice tension moments to pull you out of the rolling along feel. At the end of the day, it's the sheltering sky and that sky can always have unusual unsuspected wind changes etc. Most of all they all flow along together so well and no one is ever trying to outdo anyone, it's all towards making the music the best it can be, plain and simple. Joy, thanks for sharing Kings Theatre, these clips are a great Christmas presents for this fan and many fellow fans to boot I'd imagine.
I saw them in Lynn Mass and thus song was amazing there also. The whole night was amazing to me as a KC fan and a Vai fan and Tool fan. I had a 3 mile smile all night!
So fkn good! We bought tickets to watch the beat live stream, my partner and his housemate were both sent into a trance by this. it was an incredible way to introduce king crimson to them 🔥❤️🙏
BELEW & VAI .. NO WORDS NEEDED EXCEPT CAREY ON DRUMS TOO AND LEVIN ON BASS.. WHATT !.. JUST A GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE.. HOWEVER I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR THIS GROUP DO AN ORIGINAL ALBUM TOGETHER.. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE CREATIONS THAT WOULD COME FROM THAT MAGICAL BREW.. ONE CAN DREAM
I've watched dozens of these clips from the Beat shows and sadly nothing compares to being there. WOW! great fucking show. thanks for posting, this is among the best I've seen/heard!
These guys always impress me like a mo-fo !! Vai was lovin’ it like McDonalds too !! What’s better than hearing something this good for the first time ?? Awesome !!!!
@@lepplajk thank you so much, really appreciate the kind words! I suggest checking out @browndogfilms for more BEAT videos and outstanding video skills!
Really nice to hear them take these tunes in new directions, which I'd hoped they would do. (I saw the opening night of the tour, when they were just trying to get the material right.) Please tell me there will be at least one live release!
Heard a few of the earlier versions, and they were still tryin to get the feel of the material, but these later shows are over the top! Glad I waited until the latter part!!!
@@docbobster I think they will end up releasing the 4K livestream from LA. Saw them 3 times and they just kept getting better…I really wish this tour wouldn’t end.
Bravo! This setup is doing a stellar job: recreating music they love, adding fabulous layers of fancy and fantasy - enrichening the tunes (observed from the universe, as it were) and therefore the lives of anyone listening in. Thank u so much, BK, for posting videos! From fan in Copenhagen - who has a special christmas wish: something to do with next year and a tour to the old continent...... and I have been a good boy all year ;-)
I just saw them 2 nights ago, while i'm not the biggest fan of Steve Vai and I have to say he did a masterful job handling the Fripp parts, including some awesome soundscapes and improvs. I'll need to take a closer look at his more recent stuff. Danny Carey is off the charts! Ade and Tony, what more can you say? These guys are playing with the exuberance of teenage kids, I sure hope they do more with this. Maybe a phone call to Mr Mastelloto to grab his Rhythmn Buddy Trey and hop aboard, go to the next level!
While we’re justifiably creaming over Vai, I need to point to AB’s masterful solo at 7:30. It is so tasteful and perfect, building organically on Fripp’s ideas. Not a wasted note. (Alternatively: Belew obeys the Torah while Vai, like Onan, spreads his seed upon the ground.)
Okay....
Steve really kills it on this version, especially the parts with Adrian. Tony's parts are a bit weak. But the fucking commercial interruption ruins it.
@@beta_klein I was the only other person standing over on that side for a lot of the show. No way I could stay seated for some of the bangers they played. Great videos!
@@jamestemple8970 I sat through the first set but so many people kept getting up and waking or coming back from the bar - I had to get up. You can see it on my video Larks' Tongues in Aspic I gave up and walked to the stage 😂 Thank you, happy to share!
King Crimson and WEED 🍁 go together like Milk🥛 ‘n Frikkin’ Honey 🍯 !!!! Or The CAPTAIN and COKE !!!! Or whatever you like to mix together that tastes good !!!!
I hate to be the skunk at the picnic, but I miss the tight ensemble of the original band. Every video I’ve seen of BEAT is ragged. At first I thought it was Vai, but I think it’s Belew after seeing this. And shockingly, sometimes Levin seems to float against the drums (not in this one, obvi). Of course, a real board mix would help a lot. With KC everything fit like a glove live.
It’s sad the creator Fripp is not included as good as a guitar player this stand in is there is zero comparison the fangs are removed No brufford The floor the foundation is gone Just another cover-up band making us settle for less and less Thanks Adrian
I love that Vai keeps evolving his parts on this song. And it seems like he and Belew are really enjoying their new guitar partnership.
Steve vai is incredible, the final solo is …fantastic
Steve Vai, holy cow!!!How great he is!
Vai nailed this one.

I mean, good heavens. I've watched almost every version of this song on the Beat tour on RUclips, and each one is just a f-ing delight.

The highlight of the show
Absolutely beautiful music. Amazing guitar spots by Steve Vai. Second to none!

To Fripp, but awsome solo for sure.

Absolutely amazing
Equal if not better to Beacon solo.
PLEASE keep touring!!!

Interesting to watch Vai loosening up his hands before this starts.
He's got some very heavy lifting to do!
Adrian is using a lot of the original (exact) gear, it sounds really good.
